Ryan Hedges is called up into the Welsh International senior squad

By Nigel Sheen

Former Flint Town United Academy and 1st team player has been called up into the full Welsh squad, following the withdrawal of Marley Watkins.

This weekend sees the final two games of Wales' qualification bid for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. They first take on Georgia, away, on Friday, before facing the Republic of Ireland in Cardiff on Monday evening. The games are seen as "must win" for Chris Coleman's team as Wales' hopes are in the balance.
Ryan graduated through the Flint Under 19's Academy, with some impressive performances seeing him fast tracked into the 1st team squad in 2012/13. Appearances for the Welsh Schools Under 18's led to Swansea City coming in for him during the close season. Although not managing to break into the Swansea first team, he became a regular in the Welsh U19 squad. On 16 January 2015, Ryan joined League One team Leyton Orient on a one-month loan deal, which was subsequently extended. He made his professional debut for Orient against Colchester United.
Towards the end of last season he joined Championship side Barnsley, and earlier this season score the winning goal for them in a EFL Cup game against Morecambe.
On his social media account, Ryan made the following statement " A huge honour for me to be called up for the national team @FAWales World Cup qualifiers ".
All at Flint send their congratulations to Ryan on this well deserved recognition of his talent, and we hope it won't be too much longer before he's celebrating his first international cap.
