GAV SAYS RELAX

Gavin Allott is some footballer - enjoy him.

Frickley handed out a footballing lesson yesterday - sheer beauty & awesome brutality - which left the home team praying for the final whistle with only 30 minutes gone.

We went straight on the front foot from the kick off & stayed there - the lads made their intentions crystal clear with 5 goalscoring opportunities in the first 3 minutes & a mixture of valiant defending, goal line clearances & great display by the home keeper kept the Greens at bay.......briefly. Gav had a great chance for number 99 on 10 minutes when he hit a rasping drive which the keeper palmed over the bar but he only had to wait another 4 minutes. Haze gets a good cross in, Stone Cold Steve Hopewells header hits the post, Jammer sticks the ball back in the danger area & the Big Man pokes it home.

Next up, a great through ball for Duggie to run on to, & he moves into the box but his shot hits the post & Haze following up can't quite get his shot off & out for a corner.

Frickleys 2nd goal was worth the money in on it's own - a Darkenbauer exocet throw is cleared & Cam Hough hits the sweetest volley you'll see from 20 yards, a goal from the moment it left his foot - 28 minutes gone.

Then Haze breaks free & rounds the keeper but it takes him out wide & he couldn't get his shot off but the ball ping pongs round the box without anyone being able to smash it home & it goes out for a corner.

16:37 on Saturday 18th November 2017 is the moment when the Market Drayton defence couldn't clear their lines & Gavin Allott loops a header over the keeper & scores his 100th goal for Frickley Athletic......& I WAS THERE TO SEE IT!!!!

A minute before half time, Jacob Hazel bursts forward with the ball, he brushes aside 2 defenders like a man swatting flies away from his favourite cream cake & picks his spot for Frickleys 4th & Jacobs 19th of the season. He's scored in 8 consecutive games, & has got 12 in those 8.

HALF TIME - MARKET DRAYTON 0 FRICKLEY 4

A more considerate referee might have called the fight off at this point to save the home team from further punishment but Mr Silcock is clearly related to the Marquis De Sade & he made them come out for some more. In fairness they gave it a bit of a go early in the half.

Shawn Mitchell came on & was replaced by Jack Burton. Shortly afterwards the rampaging Hopewell swings the ball in but it gets cleared back out to him. 2nd attempt finds Gav in the box, his first shot is saved by the keeper, his second isn't - it's in the onion bag. 5 nil on 63 minutes. Gavins 11th hat trick for the club & his 3rd of the season. He now sits only 2 hat tricks behind Dick Lawson who holds the record for most HTs for the club. That was his work done for the afternoon & he was replaced by The Iceman - that's not fair on defenders is it? Stone Cold Steve Hopewell had a rest too & was replaced by Dangerous Dan Palmer. Frosty cut the defence to ribbons on a number of occasions but he had to wait until the dying embers to get the inevitable goal - made it himself by outstripping the defence & then simply smashed it past the keeper. That's his 4th in 5 games

FINAL SCORE - MARKET DRAYTON 0 FRICKLEY 6

Without being disrespectful to the home team, 6 nil flattered them. We also hit the post twice, 3 or 4 goal line clearances & the home keeper was probably man of the match & got a good round of applause from the Frickley hordes when he left the field at full time.

WEBMASTER MOTM - if you think I'm not giving it to the bloke who scored 99, 100 & 101 then think again my friends. Some very special performances by the back line gave Sebba a day off, Darker was awesome, Jameel strolled through the game & Cam Hough is probably the best footballer at the club right now. Richie Patterson was amazing - a Land Rover with a Rolls Royce engine - & at times Jacob Hazel was unplayable but it's Big Gavs Glitterball & it goes on his mantelpiece alongside his 11 hat trick matchballs. Gav admitted after the game that he'd been putting himself under too much pressure in recent games as he tried to achieve his milestone but he just relaxed into his role & the goals came

94 through the gate & a good number were Frickley supporters.

Next up we're away at Lincoln United next Saturday
