New manager interview

By Chris Haughton

First thoughts from the new management team

In their first conversation with GNE after being appointed as the new management team, Peter Band and Lloyd Morrison outlined their thoughts. They stressed that they regarded it as a great honour to be given this job. Both regard Glossop as a fantastic club and both are very excited by the challenge ahead.

They are very clear that the club needs to stay in the Evo-Stik West Division, especially as it took them over 30 years to get to this level! With 27 league games still to play, the priority is obviously to start winning games by building confidence and organisation. They promised to look carefully at the current squad and try to bring in players who can strengthen the team. There are no midweek games for the next two weeks, so they will be working very hard with the players during that time.

They want to get the crowd behind the team and they ask for their patience and support. They stressed that win, lose or draw, they will not settle for less than 100% from the team.

Between them, they have been to Surrey Street on many occasions as players or in the dugout. “We know from experience that the Glossop crowd can be an extra man with their passion and enthusiasm. We know that if we can get things going we can get crowds of three or four hundred. That is our aim.”
