The Gingerbreads recorded their first Saturday home win of the season at The Meres today.
With Captain Stefan Galinski suspended and Lewis Carr no longer at the club, Manager Adam Stevens has to shuffle his side. Rhys Lewis and Luther Wildin were the centre half pairing, with Danny Meadows moving back to right back. Curtis Burrows started at right midfield.
The Gingerbreads started brightly and were ahead after 4 minutes. Harry Clifton broke free from defence and fired at the Stafford keeper who could only palm it away into the path of Curtis Burrows who slotted home.
Felipe Barcelos had a big appeal for a penalty turned away on 20 minutes, but two minutes later The Gingerbreads doubled their lead. Michael Hollingsworth pounced on a loose ball and fired home from 18 yards.
The Gingerbreads had further chances to pull further ahead but Stafford were next to score.
Into the second half and The Gingerbreads were again on top and saw chances fall for Felipe Barcelos and Curtis Burrows saw his shot come off the post.
It was Stafford who pushed forward and peppered the Grantham defence with long throws and balls but they stood firm. Rhys Lewis rose well from one corner to head clear.
The Gingerbreads though hung on through a nervous 6 minutes of added time to record the win!
