Gingerbreads March On!
By Simon Hayes
Jordan Hempenstall scored with two minutes to go at Stafford Rangers today to give The Gingerbreads a fourth straight victory.
Danny Martin and Dennis Rhule were in charge again, while Adam Stevens recovered from his hip operation. Rhys Lewis missed the match through injury meaning
Michael Hollingsworth started in the middle of midfield.
Stafford opened the scoring on 12 minutes. After looking like a clear foul on
Lee Shaw was not given, Stafford broke free and Osebi Adadaki saw his bobbling shot go in off the post.
The Gingerbreads build themselves into the match and started to make chances.
Zayn Hakeem saw his shot, from the edge of the box, go just over.
The match was levelled, by luck rather than judgement. Hakeem sent Shaw down the left side, his shot was cleared but only to reach
Danny Meadows back side and it looped in.
The second half was played at a frantic pace as both sides looked to get in front.
Michael Hollingsworth smashed a shot onto the cross bar, Shaw saw his low shot bobble agonisingly wide.
With changes made, The Gingerbreads found a winner two minutes from time. Andrew Wright got down the left and stroked the ball across to
Jordan Hempenstall who was able to bury it from 6 yards out.
Just before the final whistle, Tom Batchelor saw a straight red which seemed to be the result of an ongoing battle with Stafford's Kyle Perry. His ban will start next Saturday.
With Altrincham losing, Warrington not playing, Ashton and Farsley drawing, The Gingerbreads are now comfortably in the play off places.
