Through To Round Two!

Adam Stevens rang the changes for tonight's Integro League Cup Lincolnshire derby against Lincoln United.

Academy Scholars and regular substitutes Tom Curtis and Kevin Da Silva Bastos started. Matt Baker and Ryley Thompson both started in defence. Lee Shaw was named on the bench.

The first chance of the night fell to Jordan Hempenstall when he turned on the edge, made space for himself but dragged his shot wide.

It was Lincoln United who opened the scoring on 17 minutes. The ball was played long down the right and former Gingerbread Jack McGovern lobbed the ball over Kieran Preston.

Kevin Da Silva Bastos was enjoying his night as he was getting behind the Lincoln United left back regularly. On 20 minutes he was chopped down but the resulting free kick was cleared for a corner.

The Gingerbreads were level 2 minutes later Tom Potts won back the ball on the half way line, played in Kevin Da Silva Bastos his cross was blocked but Curtis Burrows fired the ball back & in.

On 32 minutes The Gingerbreads were in front. Kevin Da Silva Bastos again provided the assist. His cross found Jordan Hempenstall who headed the ball down over the Lincoln United goal keeper.

Just before the hour The Gingebreads went 3-1 up. Kevin Da Silva Bastos was again involved, he played the ball to Curtis Burrows whose cross found Jordan Hempenstall who had time to control the ball before firing home.

Adam Stevens changed his midfield pair with Andrew Wright and Connor Paine coming on.

The Gingerbreads looked a little unsettled and on 73 minutes Lincoln made it 3-2. A cross from the right was turned home.

The best chance of the remainder of the match fell to Jordan Hempenstall, he spotted the Lincoln United keeper off his line but his shot hit the bottom of the post and spun across the face of goal and went out for a goal kick.

The Ginerbreads held out to go through to the second round of the Integro League Cup.
