Hadley Wood & Wingate pick up victory

Hadley Wood and Wingate recorded their second win of the season on Saturday with a 5-2 victory away at Old Parmiterians.

Hadley Wood and Wingate started brightly. Josh Grantham had the first opening but blazed his shot over the bar from close range after some nifty footwork. However, it was the home side who took the lead on 25 minutes, when Lewis Bowers tapped into an empty net to finish a low centre from the right wing. The game was then fairly even until just before half time when the game turned on its head. Old Parmiterians gave away a needless corner on 42 minutes and Danny Hart scored direct. Just 2 minutes later a swinging cross from Alfie Ripsher was neatly controlled by Hart before he finished with a thundering left foot drive.

Hadley Wood and Wingate regained control from the outset of the second half and the victory was never in doubt. Lewis Jones was a constant threat and he made it 3-1 with a neat finish at the far post on the hour. Immediately from the kick off the home side found themselves back in the game at 3-2 when a poor headed clearance fell to Josh Towell who produced a magnificent first time volley into the top corner from the edge of the area. The away side regained their composure and could have run out winners by more than the eventual 5-2 scoreline. The icing on the cake came courtesy of substitute Yesid Calderon who made an instant impact tucking the loose ball home from 12 yards. Just near the end Calderon skipped past a tiring Parmiterians midfield and put a perfect pass through to Ike Nzuruba who used his pace to get away from the last defender and slotted the ball into the far corner past the onrushing keeper.
