Norwich United v Haverhill Rovers

A moment of madness, followed by ten minutes of mayhem for Haverhill, cost them what would have been a deserved point after a dogged display at

Norwich.

Haverhill led in the 5th minute when a Michael Shinn corner was headed back into the danger area by Marcus Hunt and Ryan Weaver headed the ball into the net from close range for his first for the club.

Some good saves by Alex Archer kept his side in the lead for an hour until the hosts equalised, substitute Joel Potter putting in a cross from the right bye line that Paul Cook met with a free header.

With the away side holding on, and with the watch at 81 minutes, the almost unthinkable happened, Ricky Spriggs kicking out just after he was clipped clearing the ball from the penalty area, resulting in Spriggs being sent off, Norwich being awarded a penalty and Mathew Blake netting from the spot.

Then, on 85 and 86 minutes, two more goals went past Archer, the first after his amazing one handed reflex save put Blake’s volley on to the bar, only for Cook to perform an overhead kick and the ball to loop into the far right side of the net with Archer rooted, and the dangerous Adam Hipperson netted the final goal after he used his pace to get past substitute Perry Moody and put the ball over the diving Archer and into the far top right corner.
