FORMER HEATH COLT JOE MARLER NEW CAPTAIN AT QUINS

By Tracey Spuyman

It was announced today (Monday 4 August) that former Heath Colt Joe Marler has been appointed captain of Harlequins...

having come through the Quins Academy and made 105 appearances for the club since his debut in 2009. Joe is an engaging, level-headed and popular young man who has developed enormously both personally and as a professional rugby player. Don't be fooled by the interesting hair styles! Joe's appearance at Heath's Q&A evening in January this year (pictured here presenting the Club with his England shirt) along with his former Heath Quins colleagues brought the roof down as he entertained a full house with his humorous anecdotes and sensible advice to the Club's young players.

Joe will be leading the three other ex Heath Colts at Quins - Luke Wallace, who will be looking to push former Quins captain and current England captain Chris Robshaw at open side flanker as the 2015 Rugby World Cup approaches; wing Ross Chisholm just returning from injury and his younger brother James Chisholm - fresh from his triumph with England U20s at the Junior World Cup in New Zealand.

The Club wishes Joe all the very best as he prepares for the Quins captaincy, secures his RWC berth for Autumn 2015 and copes with the even greater challenges of a new baby!
