Neither manager happy with result

By

This was a share of the points that left neither manager feeling very happy. Blues manager Gavin Kelsey because his side’s first half display could – and probably should – have seen them score four or five goals, and the Uxbridge boss because his si

The Blues could hardly have got off to a better start. George Lutaaya created early problems for the visitors with a ball across the face of the goal that only needed a touch, and then, when the ball was returned into the box, full-back Joe Clemo smashed it home in fine style from 20 yards out.

One-nil up inside two minutes could have become two or three inside the next three minutes with further chances falling to Tommy Wade and George Lutaaya during a period of play that saw the Blues totally dominant.

Their dominance continued through the half with further opportunities coming and going with the visitors restricted to isolated attacks that lacked any real threat. A second goal would probably have killed the game off but by half-time it hadn’t come and the Blues only had a single goal to show for all their good play.

Fourth-placed Uxbridge hadn’t been in the game but a double substitution at the restart completely turned the game on its head. A goal apiece from each of them – Jabir Laraba in the 46th minute and Dylan Kearney in the 71st – put the visitors in front and in charge of the game.

The Blues had completely lost their way at this point but a late rally saw them raise their game in search of a goal to salvage a point. And, with almost five minutes of time-added-on having been played, a surging run from Tyler Hatherly brought him an equaliser that was loudly celebrated by the loyal supporters in the Stable End.

Team:, Charlie Mann, Joe Clemo, Macauley Joynes, George Beattie, Jason Beck, Ollie Sharman, David Keenleyside (Chikosi Basden 81’), George Lutaaya (Tyler Hatherly 72’), Tommy Wade, Charlie Ruff (Romaric Logan 64’), and Michael Toner.

Subs not used: Mark Twumasi and Aaron Diviney.
