21-game winning streak ends for 1st XI at Clayton

A disappointing 1st XI fielding performance set the tone for their first league defeat of the season at Clayton. Numerous catches were dropped and some misfields on the bumpy outfield gave the home side a decent total of 209. Jamie Moorhouse toiled in his 3 for 79, whilst Stuart Thompson also picked up three wickets.

Illingworth lost early wickets in reply, with only James Lawton (33) getting to grips with the pitch out of the top six. In the face of accurate bowling from the promotion-chasing hosts, only Ben Robertshaw (21) and Stuart Thompson (17) joined Lawton in getting double figures as the winning run came to an end.
