Sunday fixture round-up

Mixed team and Women's Masters weekend success

We had an action packed weekend with double-headers for a lot of our players.

While the U14 girls battled hard against Cambridge City, they lost in what was a well-matched game. The young side welcomed lots of new players to the team and played well together, considering the arctic conditions. We're very proud of the girls for beating tough competition to reach such late round in the Tier 1 EH Championships. The future looks very bright for Ipswich!

The women's Over 35s repaid the favour though as they travelled to Cambridge City for the Masters EH Championships. With the help of Manager Donna Mills, the squad used their experience to beat Cambs 3-0 to reach the Quarter Finals, in what must be the result of the day. Even Emma Millar-Rix scored!

Back in Ipswich, at St Joseph's College, our men's 1s faced a very good Bedford side in a rearranged East Prem A fixture. The second half was much better than the first, with Ipswich having some clear chances. The end result went Bedford's way as they won 2-0.

The final fixture of the day saw Ipswich's mixed team take on Norwich City at Tuddenham Road. Boosted by externals Grant Ward and James Gray, alongside ladies 1st coach Mariette Rix, the team got off to a very good start by scoring in the first minute. Two effortless goals from Mariette Rix (who is a retired GK and now likes to dabble outfield) saw her win Man of the Match.
