Joiners Arms 0 - 9 Leam Hibs Reserves

An emphatic victory in Hibs opening game of the season!

Hibs reserves travelled away to the Joiners Arms for their first league game of the 2018/19 season, and began their first season in Men's football.

It was a slow and frustrating start for Hibs as nerves appeared to get the better of them with half hour played having created few clear cut opportunities, the only real chance coming as Reserves winger Luke Marriott was thwarted excellently from close range by the Joiners Arms goalkeeper.

Deadlock was finally broken on the 35th minute as Hibs striker Liam Bullimore was brought down in the box and awarded a penalty, which he calmly dispatched to make the score 1-0. Within 60 seconds of his first goal Bully picked the ball up out wide and used a neat turn in the box to open up the defence and rifle home to double the Hibs advantage. 2-0.

Hibs took a two goal lead into the second half and looked to extend this early, which didn't take long. Minutes into the second half Hibs skipper Matty Nutt reacted first as the ball bounced around the area after a corner and prodded home to make the score 3-0. Shortly after Reserves winger Josh Johal was substituted onto the field and looked to make an instant impact, which is exactly what he did. 30 seconds into his debut he chased willingly onto a hopeless long ball, used his strength to hold of the defender before slapping the ball into the top bracket with real panache. 4-0.

The reserves were now playing with a real air confidence as the goals continued in quick succession. Hibs midfielder Charlie Fitzmaurice hit the Reserves fifth of the afternoon as he watched his sublime free kick nestle in the top left corner before man of the match Liam Bullimore completed his hattrick in outrageous fashion - rounding the goalkeeper and heading home on the line. 6-0.

The Reserves weren't done just yet as they continued to fly forward. Hibs right back Harry McKay's speculative effort stunned the keeper, and the crowd, as it found the bottom corner to make it 7-0. Hibs winger Mitchell Williams then added to the team's tally as he was rewarded for his hard work with a goal. Midfielder Ricci Goldswain completed proceedings with a late penalty as the match finished Joiners Arms 0 - 9 Leamington Hibernians Reserves.
