After Romulus had hit the woodwork in opening minute United took control and began to ask questions.
We had four players making the full home League debuts and all four did well. Lewis Richards, on the left of midfield, Ben Clucas in the centre, Tom Cass at centre-back and Lee Burns at right-back all had good games.
We hit the woodwork and the lively pairing up front of Andy Hutchinson and ben Garrick went close on several occasions.
Goalless at half-time, we fell behind five minutes after the re-start yet again. Marcus Brown opened the scoring. This sparked the visitors.
They had been neat and tidy up to then but the goal lifted their spirits.
However United dug in, without really creating but with fifteen minutes remaining Simon Mowbray might have levelled on two occasions. Firstly, cutting in from the left he hesitated and got drowded out. Then dealing with a difficult return pass from Ben Garrick he couldn’t control and another chance went begging.
Substitute, Sam Wilkinson might have done better with a header, heading just over and skipper, Brendan McDaid also went close with a header.
However goals in the 87th and 89th from Ashley Jackson and a second from Brown put piad to the Whites efforts.
We have now picked up just 12 points from 19 games in 2013. Remember we started the New Year with a 1-0 win over Brigg Town so 9 points from the last 18 !
We deserved better but once again we were not ruthless enough at either end of the pitch.
