Long Eaton Rugby achieved a much-needed win in a storming performance against Staffordshire side, Newcastle, at West Park this Saturday in the first round of the National Cup.
The team dominated the pitch scoring seven tries from Taylor, Beresford, Powell, Hawksworth and Weedon - the final score was a huge 47-0 to Long Eaton. Man of the Match was awarded to scrum-half, Sam Cotter.
Ryan Beresford, fly-half for Long Eaton said: "This was a well due and deserved win for the team which has really helped to lift spirits. Our attack went really well, which has been a bit of a weakness over the past couple of games with not looking after the ball. Our defence was excellent - something we've been doing week in week out. It was a huge effort from all the boys, especially the front row - our scrums have been a really big feature of the season so far. Hopefully we can start to bring a bit of this form into the league now and begin to move up the table."
Long Eaton face Newark away in their next Midlands 2 (East North) League game on Saturday 20th October.
