Long Eaton Rugby Club marked the grand opening of its new gym and fitness suite at its West Park facilities with a sparkling ceremony for members, sponsors and local residents on Saturday 15th September.
The gym was officially opened by life-time member and first ever president of the club which was founded in 1969, Len Jones, who is now 93 years old. Len was joined by players, members and club sponsors at the event which took place before the club's first home game of the season against Market Rasen.
The new gym will be the first of its kind for a rugby club of this level in the area and will be open to all members, players and their friends and family. The gym is fully equipped and will also play a major role in developing players' fitness and strength throughout the rugby season.
Long Eaton Rugby's sponsors have donated generously to the new gym, providing funds, equipment, services and labour to ensure it has been finished to the highest standard.
Chris Brookes, Chairman at Long Eaton Rugby, said: "We're delighted to have officially opened our new gym and fitness suite. As a club, we are continually striving to provide the best facilities, coaching and experience for our players and having a gym of this standard on-site further sets us apart from other clubs.
"We would like to say a huge thank you to all of the local businesses and our valued sponsors who have helped make this happen - The team at Children 1st, Hedgehog Electricals, PJB Flooring, John Fessey Building Services, Rox Plumbing, Pete Quinton and John Pearson Air Conditioning, and Graeme Wrathall Decorators. Also, thanks to Erewash Borough Council and our local councillors for continuing to support the growth of our community club. The gym will play huge part in keeping our players of all ages fit and strong alongside their rugby training out on the pitch."
