With Whaddon looking for points to claim runners-up spot this was never going to be an easy afternoon.
The visitors certainly looked like a top 2 side early on and would have scored a couple with more composed finishing.
Town worked hard to keep the ball when they could and it paid off on 24 minutes.
Great work down the left by Winesy saw his flicked pass find Dec who nudged the ball inside the far post for 1-0.
Charlie Powell, who seemed to be involved in virtually everything, was shown a yellow on the half mark when he protested too much following a poor challenge on him.
Dec crashed a header off the bar and Foxy saw a drive go wide before the break but they went in 1-0 up at halftime.
Tom Baldwin didn't start the second half following a hand injury, Ricky Elliott replaced him.
With neither side looking as if they would add to the score, poor old Josh Davis had a horrible 10 minutes late on.
His rash challenge on their number 10 saw the Ref point to the spot. Connor Barrowcliffe sent Joner the wrong way with the kick to bring his side level.
With Lydney looking heavy legged, and Charlie seeing his second yellow and a stint in the sinbin, Josh was involved in another horror show.
Once again the striker cut inside, this time Josh did actually get the ball with his challenge but the follow through saw the attacker hit the deck.
Barrowcliffe stepped up again for the resulting pen but hero Steve Jones guessed correct and dived to keep out the kick and his side in the game.
With the clock ticking down the save seemed to give Lydney some fresh energy. One final attack saw the boys earn a corner. The referee signalled for Charlie to return from the sinbin and the kick came in.
Through a melee of players the keeper could only palm out a header and as the ball dropped, Charlie reacted quickest to head home from 3 yards out and set off wild celebrations. Dave Jenkins was a well deserved Man of the Match.
The local derby at Whitecroft this coming Tuesday will now not be a cause for concern regarding points.
Of course the local bragging rights are still up for grabs and it should make it a fun night
