Marine recorded their first win of the new Evo-Stik Premier Division season on Monday, Chris Doyle's first minute goal giving them all three points at Giant Axe.
Tommy Lawson's men opened the scoring in the first minute, James Short's corner from the right being headed against the post by Craig Carney with Doyle following up the rebound, the linesman spotting that the ball had crossed the line.
In an often scrappy affair Lancaster had the better of the first half chances but only forced Marine keeper Martin Fearon in to one real save of note, stretching to his left to push a goal bound effort over the bar.
The second half saw the visitors content to soak up pressure and hit the home side on the counter, with the Marine defence dealing with pretty much everything that came their way.
Substitute Josh Hine did well to set up Carney as the game wore on, the former Lancaster captain bringing a great save from City custodian Aiden Stone, the home keeper also doing well shortly afterwards to turn Hine's strong drive around the post.
Lancaster applied some heavy pressure late on but the Mariners saw out time to claim the win.
