The Stags 2-4 Loxwood

By Ian Saunders

Another loss means the final two games become MUST WIN encounters

A disappointing result for the Stags who were desperately looking for 3 points. We took the lead after a re-taken penalty was missed but then the rebound tucked away by young Ollie Pearce. The Stags were enjoying their fair share of possession but Loxwood always looked more than capable of getting something.

Some hesitant goalkeeping led to a soft Loxwood equaliser (from my point of view), and then withing 2 minutes the visitors had taken the lead. The 2nd half started with neither side capitalising. Loxwood then extended their lead with their first meaningful attack of the second half. Midhurst picked their game up and forced an equaliser from Andy Newton with 15 minutes still to play, however as the ball was in the net, this led to a melee of players trying to get the ball etc which then led to a Midhurst player pushing a visiting defender in the face and unfortunately for us (but rightly!) sent off.

5 minutes later saw a clash between our forward and the Loxwood keeper, which seemed inocuous at first but possibly led to the 'keeper suffering a dislocated knee. All at Midhurst obviously wish him a speedy recovery. There was still enough time for Loxwood to put away another goal.

Still 6 points to play for although it will take a massive effort and plenty of luck for and from all Stags

Next up Seaford Town at the Rotherfield next Saturday............
