But not the result we wanted

Today’s game was against relegation rivals Liverpool uni vets. Todays Northwich side had a couple of last minute changes with Johnny dean and mark Thompson being called up to 1’s duty. The game started of with uni vets starting strong after 5 or so minutes the away team was awarded a penalty just in front of the posts which they elected to kick. With the score at 0-3 to uni vets. The restart was taken and unfortunately after a few minutes of play uni vets got their 1st try it the day. However a few minutes after in the opposition half Northwich were awarded a penalty skipper Antony Keller decided to get the 1st points on the board for Northwich score 3-10. Unfortunately that was to be the only points Northwich would score that half, going into the second half with Northwich taking the restart the kick would go deep into the opposition half where after a few kicks up the field and a few good plays uni vets would score again wide in the corner 3-15. Uni vets didn’t stop there unfortunately scoring another 2 converted try’s. However the last 10-15 minutes saw a northwich pack take dominance of the game and deciding to match themselves up the pitch, with a clever kick over the top and a good chase from a returning from injury Sam jones saw uni vets make a mistake and handed Northwich a scrum on the 5m line. The Northwich pack having dominated most of the game in the scrum we’re gearing up for a drive over the line which did indeed resulted in a try from number 8 Patrick Fray. Score 10-28. The restart was taken and Northwich again marched themselves up the pitch where they were awarded a penalty on the stoke of full time. Keller knowing that the game could not end on a penalty after the new law changes opted for a kick down the pitch to touch. The line out was taken well and Northwich mauled their way further up the pitch after several pick and goes one of the Northwich pack was held up and after going down the referee decided that it was too much of a mess and awarded a scrum to uni vets which brought about the end of the game. Final score Northwich 10 Uni Vets 28.
