Double derby day victory
Winnington Park 3rds 21 v Northwich 3rds 42
Following on from the great win that Northwich 2nds had against Park 2nds last week Northwich 3rds continued the winning streak this week which surely must mean Northwich are the team of the town.
The game started off with Northwich forwards taking the game to Winnington in the scrum and loose play. About 10 minutes into the game Park lost one of their front row which resulted in uncontested scrums for the rest of the game. This took the pressure off their forwards in the scrum. The first try came when the forwards supplied the ball to Taty who linked with Kelsall who in turn passed it to Johnson, who created space for Luis Lomas. Lomas took full advantage of this, running half the pitch evading two tackles and scoring under the posts. The try was converted by Harry Naylor.
The next try came from Dan Young who worked very well with Ian Haddock and Sweeney. Young knocked over several Park players to score agin converted by Harry Naylor.
The backs working well together were rewarded with the 3rd try, scored by Tom Merrick. The next try came about due another good team effort and Johnson crossing the line.
Half time: Park 0, Northwich 28.
The second half started off well with Lewis Lomas scoring one of his typical trademark tries, Harry Naylor again converting. Park then scored a controversial converted try.
The next try came from Taty who converted his own try. Then for some reason Northwich switched off allowing Park to score two more tries. Final score 21-42.
Liam Marshall played his first match for Northwich who showed he will be a great asset to the club.
Player of the match was Lewis Lomas.
We had a squad of 21 players, all who played a very important part that gave us our victory. The modern game nowadays requires a team to have a large squad to guarantee success which also enabled us to assist Park when they were short.
Players player was Dan Young who successfully drank the 'Dirty Boot' and big thanks to the Colts.
A great victory, well done to all.
