This was the return of the long and anticipated game against Park and the final game of the year. The weather was a major factor in this game, freezing cold blowing a gale and driving rain.
Within 5 minutes Robbo opened the scoring by smashing his way through Park’s defence. It was quite obvious what Parks’ tactics were which was as soon as they got the ball they would kick it upfield or into touch. This worked for 20 minutes as every time Northwich got the ball they made handling mistakes due to cold hands.
The next try came after 20 or so minutes, the forwards cleaning the ball up and passing it to the backs which resulted in Tom Boardman scoring a try.
Northwich settled into the game and the next 2 tries came from Harry.
Northwich made very hard work of the first half definitely not helped by the weather.
The second half was completely different with Oscar opening up the scoring with a try. Northwich dominated the half with further tries coming from Fraser, Tom Boardman, Pete Naylor , Cameron Gough and 2 from Harty.
Harry Naylor converted 5 of the tries.
Northwich players scored all the tries during the game
and including Bullet scoring for Winnington Park!
I’m sorry this report is quite short but the notes I made at the time ended up in one big wet mess!
Northwich performance was truly a great team effort therefore it was impossible to pick a ‘Man of the Match’. Unlike Park, who had a choice of Bullet or Lloydie for their ‘ Man of the Match’! All joking apart I would like to thank Bullet and Lloydie for playing for the opposition and making it more of a game.
I’d like to wish all the team and their families a great Christmas and let’s continue this great effort into the next year.
