A tremendous FA Cup First Qualifying Round tie ended all-square as Parkgate and Leek Town slugged out a thrilling 2-2 draw at Green Lane last night.
The sides have to do it all again in Staffordshire next Tuesday evening- but Parkgate Manager Billy Fox felt his side probably deserved to get the job done at the first attempt, writes Colin Muncie for the Parkgate FC Website.
Foxy told the Club Website "I thought last night's game was a really good football match from both sides and the biggest compliment I can pay to our players is that we probably should have won.
The players executed the game plan and we did cause Leek some problems. After we went 2-1 in front, to give away the softest of penalties was pretty harsh, as even the Leek players didn't appeal and the player got up and tried to continue as he knew it wasn't a foul. Our player pulled out of the challenge so it may have looked like a foul but our players are adamant it wasn't"
Foxy was impressed by the Northern Premier League outfit "To be fair to Leek they didn't panic when they were behind and played some good football" he admitted. "Their Manager knows what he’s doing and they worked us hard. We go to Leek next Tuesday -but we will have to forget about that as we have another really important game in the Vase on Saturday at Glasshoughton. They are a strong team who are good at home".
" The players are enjoying playing for the club at the moment -but we will enjoy it more by turning good performances in to good results".
