SATURDAY 2ND APRIL 2016 - KICK OFF 3PM
THACKLEY AFC 0 HT 0 - 0 PARKGATE FC 0.
When the season ends will this be seen as a point gained or 2 points lost? Parkgate could and should have come away with the victory their play deserved. With Tafadzwa Mumbaya in particularly good form the Steelmen were dictating the play in the early stages. The home side didn’t have a shot until the 13th minute when Adam Simpson shot well over from close range. Parkgate forced several corners in an attempt to get the goal they so richly deserved and on 39 minutes Josh Moore shot just wide from 20 yards. Half time came with the scores level but Parkgate were the better of the two sides.
The second half continued in the same way as the first, but Adam Simpson had a free header on 62 minutes which he wasted completely. On 69 minutes, Ben Thornton had a one on one with Thackley keeper Matt Keen but was unable to get a shot on goal. With 77 minutes gone Sam Foulds had Parkgate's best chance, but his header was off target. Two minutes later Alex Lill raced onto a through ball and lobbed the advancing keeper, but his effort went just over the bar. So next Saturday Parkgate welcome Garforth to Roundworth with a 3pm kick off. As the season draws to a close 3 points are again the order of the day and Parkgate are more than capable of getting them.
