Dorward's Goal Seperates The Sides In A Great Derby

Josh Dorward's 15 minute strike moves Town to 2nd Place in the Division

The weather was abysmal, the forecast was abysmal and the groundsmen's mood was abysmal !!!

An early pitch inspection said Game On and so did Match Referee Ian Hollyoake when he arrived with his Assistants Paul Fisher and Joe Proietti.

The game started with a minute's silence for Paul Absalom and his family after the sad loss of his mother the previous evening. All of our wishes go out to Paul, Kelland and the rest of the family.

What followed was a tough old game but Mr Hollyoake used all his experience and made into a cracker which passed without anything too serious. Ammanford lost right back Mark Wooly to injury in the second half and we wish him a speedy recovery.

Ammanford had a great chance early doors but Damian Davies, in for the absent Steven Reeve, saved well although a goal kick was given so perhaps the match official had better eyes than me after all. Town then took the lead on 15 minutes with a 40 yarder from Josh Dorward (or so he will say as I cannot argue as I was retrieving a ball from somewhere or other). What I was told really happened though was that Josh benefited from some great work by Josh Roberts and got in before the defender to put it way!! ... Nevertheless Town were in the lead.

The rest of the first half, to be fair, was all Town as the visitors simply couldn't live with the pace and chances came, but unfortunately went.

The second half was more of an even affair with Town off the pace and Ammanford unable to capitalise on that. Craig Frater came close but Damian Davies was in good form especially from one free kick which he acrobatically tipped over the bar. Josh Roberts missed a chance late on for Town but, as the threatened torrential rain finally arrived the referee blew for full time and Town celebrated a good derby win and 2nd place in the table.
