Town travelled up to Ammanford in good spirits after the excellent performance against Risca United but were undone by a hardworking and uncompromising Ammanford side who seemed to have more hunger for the battle ahead
The pitch was already starting to cut up as a decent crowd saw the start of the game. Immediately both sides got in to each other with Cerith Williams for Ammanford being the main protagonist as things started to get a little feisty. Referee Jack Deschoolmeester was definitely going to have a busy day ahead of him
After losing Tom Grey through injury early on it the first goal came on 7 minutes when a foul on the edge of the box by Daryl Jeffries gave Ammanford a sight of goal and one they took with a fine strike by Matthew Fisher that gave young Dion Carroll no chance in the Town goal. Town were struggling to get into the game even this early and were guilty of giving the ball away too easy as well as silly fouls. Ammanford had a number of good chances throughout the half so, despite some encouraging signs, Town were lucky to be just 1-0 down at half time
The weather showed no signs of improvement and the pitch was getting very sticky as Ammanford open the second half up playing down the slope. Town were slowly making a better fight of it but still suffered from poor accuracy and a lack of discipline which meant the fluidity we saw against Risca United was never on show.
On 55 minutes defensive mistakes allowed Rhys Fisher to pop up and score the home side's second and this was followed not long after by Matthew Fisher's second on 63 minutes. Town were starting to get back in to the game much due to the introduction of Josh Roberts but a speculative effort by Gavin Jones from near the home side dugout beat Town keeper Dion Carroll to give the home side a 4-0 lead on 73 minutes.
Josh Roberts, only 2 minutes later, gave Town some hope with a superb strike and Town went for more but it was too little to late unfortunately and Ammanford held out to complete the game with a 4-1 scoreline
Town now move back to Parc Ynysderw next week with another local derby against West End
