A number of the lads admitted to being out on the Friday Night and this was in evidence as our performance faded in the second half against our hosts Dinas Powys
Full credit to Ritchie Garland and his team at the Murch for getting the game on which was a first half that was dominated by Town who played some excellent football on a sticky uneven pitch.
With the threat of Declan Horgan-Evans and Dan Briggs down the left Town were a threat from the first whistle and on 20 minutes Briggs scored with a sweet strike low down that gave the Dinas Powys keeper Callum Richardson no chance. It was only what Town deserved and the looked on course to get a bagful as the home side couldn't handle the lads. This was more in evidence on 27 minutes when great work by Christian Evans saw Garry Taylor strike home Town's second. More chances came but the home side held out to keep it to 0-2
Within a minute of the second half there was controversy as what seemed a fine tackle by Craig Davies on a Dinas Powys attacker was deemed a "scissor tackle" by the assistant referee. The referee had dramatically waved play on saying it was a good tackle but minutes later stopped play and after a conversation with the assistant, who actually seemed to be flagging for offside, the penalty was awarded. A pretty disappointing decision all round but nevertheless up stepped Gareth Emanuel to give the home side a goal back with a well taken penalty past Steven Reeve.
Town were definitely not the same side in the second half and much of the game was being played in the Town half of the pitch. Despite this keeper Steven Reeve didn't have a lot to do in terms but Town's inability to hold on the ball was a real worry. Players were by now looking tired, especially those who had been out the night before, but they played on until the final whistle. A clear penalty shout for Town was waved away but the referee, who didn't have the best of games to be fair, and that was the only real chance Town had to increase the lead.
The final whistle was a relief when it came though and a good 3 points on our travels just before the Christmas period was most welcome
Well done lads and have a Merry Christmas Everyone
