Marvin happy with Wrens' placing

By Gordon Foster

New manager Ben Marvin has expressed his delight that Rainworth MW have been allocated a place in the East Midlands Counties League for next season.

Even before he and assistant Paul Rockley were appointed, the EMCL was the club's preference having requested a voluntary drop from the Northern Counties East Premier Division to step 6 of the National Leagues System.
The duo accepted the job although there was a possibility that the club could have been placed in Step 7 by the National Leagues Committee, but Marvin says they are happy that, despite a vastly reduced playing budget, they will have a squad capable of competing in the EMCL.
Several players have expressed an interest in joining the club for the new season, and a number of pre-season friendlies have been arranged to allow them to have a look at potential players.
The current list (all July dates) is:
Sat 7th FC Bolsover (h)
Thu 12 Mansfield Town U23 (h)
Tue 17th Shirebrook Town (a)
Sat 21st Sherwood Colliery (h)
Tue 24th Southwell City (a)
Sat 28th Mansfield Hosiery Mills (a)
