RRamsey beat Liverpool University 22-3 away from home and their lead at the top of Lancs/Cheshire 3 stretched to eleven points after chasers Ellesmere Port lost at Mossley Hill and had their game in hand settled in the committee room. Ellesmere’s game in hand was against Newton le Willows. Their initial meeting was abandoned after fifty five minutes with Ellesmere leading 15-10 and the organising committee has ruled that the result will stand. The points have now been added to the table and Ramsey have a comfortable lead.
Fintan Cummins kicked Ramsey into an early lead with a fifteenth minute penalty. The University replied in kind and as half time approached the scores were level. A pushover try from a five metre scrummage finished off by John F Watling and converted by Cummins saw Ramsey lead 10-3 at half time.
Ethan Benjamin raced in for a try early in the second half to increase the Ramsey lead and when Eddie Lord was driven over for his third of the season, and Cummins converted Ramsey were 22-3 in front. Late in the game, the University picked up a consolation score to give them some solace.
