REDDFEST set to take place on 19th and 20th May

Adele and Abba tributes acts will be headlining REDDFEST, a new two-day music and family festival being held at The TRICO Stadium, home of Redditch United Football Club.

On Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th May, the Reds will be hosting the local community at a bumper weekend of live tribute acts and on-stage performances from local musicians, such as Stuart Woolfenden and Barclay's Blues Brothers. A mix of bands and dance groups will also be strutting their stuff, which is sure to get visitors of REDDFEST dancing and singing along.

They can also soak up the culture and fresh culinary delights of the food village and clench their thirst at one of the many bars that’ll be open – offering everything from soft drinks to real ales, prosecco and Pimm’s.

As the festival is being hosted by Redditch United, it is only fitting that a junior football tournament will be held. This will take place on Saturday morning from 10am. There is still time to enter a team, details of which will be on the Redditch United website and social media channels shortly – so keep a lookout!

Furthermore, on Sunday morning, there will be another match for visitors to watch from 10am. Then, with another one of the headline events of REDDFEST, The TRICO will host a charity football game with a difference. Stars of television and sport will play for the festival's chosen charity, Baby Ava’s Foundation, created in memory of Ava Atkinson, who was born prematurely and, sadly, passed away at The Alexandra Hospital, in Redditch, in 2014.

Details of who will be involved will be announced in due course.

Fayre rides and children’s entertainment will also ensure that there is something for everyone, of all ages, something which General Manager, David Tittershill, said was crucial for the local community:

“At Redditch United, we are always looking at ways that can bring the club and its community closer together. By introducing REDDFEST, we feel it is the perfect way for everybody to come and enjoy a great weekend with the family.

“There is plenty to see and plenty to do; from music and dance performances to football and fairground rides, it promises to be enjoyable weekend.”

Momentous weekend in the British calendar

REDDFEST is just one of several very important events to take-place over that particular weekend; namely, the FA Cup Final kicks-off at Wembley on Saturday – kick-off time is yet to be confirmed – while the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Megan Markle, hosted in St. George’s Chapel, at Windsor Castle, also takes place on Saturday and the ceremony begins at midday.

To commemorate both events, visitors will be able to grab their Union Jack flags on entry and tune-in to both in the Reds Bar.

Doors will be open between 10am and 10pm on both days. For further information on REDDFEST, please contact Mircalla Mason by email: info@reddfest.com
