Away Defeat for REMYCA

In artrocious weather conditions REMYCA suffered defeat when all that could go wrong on the day did.
Due to injury ,work commitments etc no less the four U18 team players made debuts against big physical opposition.
REMYCA started well playing controlled football but gave away a penalty on 24 minutes which was as duly converted to put the home side one up.
In the driving wind and rain REMY continued to contest the game and young debutant forward Peter Silcock was unlucky when an effort on goal squirted narrowly wide.
The home side went two up when forward Grimshaw chased down a nothing ball and the REMYCA defence stood still. He slotted into an open goal and despite having good possesssion the oppositions finishing had been the difference and REMY had a lot to do to get back in the game.
The second half became more difficult for the players as the wind and rain continued unabated and the playing surface cut up.As REMYCA pushed on Charnock played on the counter. There were chances for REMY but they could not find a way through. As the players battled the elements it became feisty and the referee began to lose control of the game. From a breakaway Charnock forward Grimshaw scored a third to complete a hatrick.
To add insult to injury a wld shot from a Charnock player was sailing wide only to hit REMYCA defender Jacob Shiels on the back and divert into the net.
The referee had the final say when he dismissed Liam Morris for a second caution for what looked an innocuous challenge on a difficult pitch.
Overall the score line looks comprehensive but this was nota four nil game. REMYCA blooded part of its youth section with five players U18 or just 19. They played well in difficult conditions and despite the result there were positives to take from the performance.Charnocks direct play and clinical finishing the diffference on the day
