Village move five points clear at the top

Rhostyllen recorded an emphatic score with the demolition of Maesgwyn on Saturday. Despite early fears that the pitch might have suffered after the previous nights downpour the match went ahead with no problems.

It took the away team just 45 seconds to take the lead when James Jones scored his first of the game, Lewis Clamp then made it 2 with less than 2 minutes gone with a back post finish. It was 3 nil when Rob Gibson scored after 6 minutes before James Jones got is second and Rhostyllen's fourth with only 9 minutes gone.

There was then a gap until Rhostyllen scored on the 22nd Minute when Steven Jones got his first of the game.Before adding his 2nd on 29 minutes. Midfielder Drew Wickens then made it seven in the 31st minute. A back heal from inside the 6 yard box by Rob Gibson in the 38th minute added another to away teams tally. Centre Back Stu Chaloner then got in on the act with a move which was started by him on half way was finished with him finishing in the six yard box. The 1st half scoring was complete when James Jones completed his hat trick with a fierce shot from the corner of the box.

Half time 0-10

The village picked up where they left off when in the 48th minute Lewis Clamp poked the ball under the advancing goalkeeper.Full back Dean Jones then scored a rare goal in the 52nd minute after pushing forward before James Jones added his fourth in 60th minute. A corner was then punched into his own net by the home team's keeper on the 65th to make it 0-14.

Substitute Danny Wynne then finished a 1 on 1 with the Goalkeeper to mark his first goal for the 1st team before James Jones scored his 5th in the 75th minute. one minute later and Ash Ryan finished to make it 0-17. Captain Steven Jones completed his hat-trick on 77 before Steven Allman bagged himself a goal with a nice from the edge of the box. Rhostyllen then had to wait until the 92nd minute to get their 20th when Danny Wynne tapped the ball in after the keeper could only parry a shot from James Jones.

Full time 0-20. Next up a trip to New Brighton Villa in the cup.
