Shepshed Dynamo lost the first league Charnwood derby of the season going down two nil to Quorn at Farley Way on Saturday in the Total Motion Midland Football League Premier Division

.Quorn took a deserved two goal lead into the half time break after dominating the first half and despite a flurry of chances in the second half Shepshed couldn't couldn't recompense the damage done by Quorn in the first half. With a list of postponements the result left Dynamo still ninth and a resurgent Quorn are rapidly climbing the table under new manager Carl Abbott as they have moved upto fourteenth.

Shepshed made two changes from the ten goal thriller last week Karl Whymark replacing Josh Barr - Rostron and Pierce Kiembi replacing Celson Patrocinio. Dynamo started in their usual high tempo attitude. Jake Betts with an inch perfect long diagonal ball found Shay Brennan who almost connected too well on the volley as he hit the side netting on eight minutes. A minute later and Liam Read from outside the box was unlucky as his effort just cleared the Quorn crossbar.

Quorn responded on ten minutes Sean Williams effort was blocked, Ryan Seal followed up with the rebound which was deflected for a corner. From Seals corner Daniel Brenan on his debut rose the highest to thunder his header passed the forlorn Denham Hinds in goal and Kiembi on the right hand post to give Quorn the lead.

Williams went close again on fourteen minuteas and Darious Darkin forced Hinds to push the ball onto the post two minutes later.

The game was beginning to open up and on seventeen minutes Corey Grantham flicked the ball onto Brennan but his effort went tamely wide on seventeen minutes. Shepshed attacked immedieately only for Whymarks effort to go over.

Quorn doubled their lead on twenty two minutes Dynamo under pressure couldn't clear their lines and the ball fell to Seal on the right edge of the box who drilled his shot passed Hinds into the opposite corner.

Shepshed came again with Whymarks free kick saved by Hayden Whitcombe on twenty four minutes and then his cross evaded everyone in the box two minutes later just after Betts also went close.

But as the half drew on it belonged to the home side. Daniel Brenan's free kick on twenty nine minutes hitting the upright. Then Hinds saving from Williams on thirty three minutes.

Shepshed were finding it hard to get a grip of the constant pressure with Dom Brennan forcing a save fom Hinds on thirty seven minutes, Joesph Haines firing wide on thirty nine minutes and Hinds saving from Dom Brennan again on the stroke of half time. In between that Shay Brennan for Dynamo forced a save from Whitcombe.

But Quorn deserved to be in front as the half drew to a close.

If the first half belonged to the hosts then Shepshed certainly shaded the chances in the second half without any reward.

Straight from the restart Whitcombe pulled off two saves one from Whyamrk and Brennan. Then from the rebound Granthams effort was defelected to safety.

Williams then went close for Quorn with his free kick on fifty two minute.

Grantham then went straight down the other end and likewise was wide for Dynamo a minute later.

The best chance for Shepshed came on fifty six minutes a chance you felt if it went in it could have turned the game. Niall Prenderville's cross was met by Grantham at the far post but he was unable to turn it goalwards and Whitcombe watched the ball go safely passed his post.

Shepshed continued to press for that elusive goal which would give them hope of salvaging something from this local Derby. Whitcombe was alert on sixty six minutes advancing out of his area to avert the danger from substitute Michael Reeve and five minutes later saving from Amarvir Sandhu.

Shay Brennan's effort was then blocked on seventy five minutes. From the resultant corner taken by Read, Reeve was unlucky as his header went over the crossbar.

Whitcombe then saved Whymarks free kick on seventy seven minutes and again Reeve was first to meet the ball but like the previous corner could only guide it over the crossbar.

Sandhu had a further chance on eighty six minutes but once again Quorn had the numbers back to block his effort.

Both teams had chances in injury time Shay Brennan's effort saved by Whitcombe. Hinds making an initial save then Adam Hohn clearing of the line and finally substitute George Bowerman for Quorn forcing a save from Hinds prior to the final whistle.

Despite trying their hardest to force a comeback in the second half Shepshed were undone by Quorn's supremacy and the two goals which gave too much of a gulf to recover from in the end. On balance Quorn may have deserved the three points for the constant pressure they provided in that first forty five.

Shepshed remain ninth but are running out of games in hand to breach any gap above them and have teams now coming up behind them. Next up another tricky away tie as they travel to Heanor Town who inflicted a 3-2 defeat on Dynamo at The Dovecote Stadium early on in the season.
