South had to much pace for the visitors, running in six tries. Two of which were within the first 12 minutes and three in the final ten minutes. In between South were awarded a penalty try.
The tries came in a game that for much of the time became scrappy, not helped by 3 yellow cards for each team, one of South's was for laughing which I Iater confirmed with the player
South started quickly, Will Ward running clear from a maul allowing the ubiquitous Gaz Turner to put Nick Cairns over, Rickie Aley converting 7-0. Jacob Heath soon added a second after Chris Gibbs and Calum Gunn opened up the visitor's defence, Aley converting 14-0. Scunthorpe knocked over a penalty and just before HT scored a converted try whilst South were serving out one of their yellow cards. HT 14-10
The green and whites penalty try came after Will Cave had kicked through a misplaced pass, outran the defence and was hauled down in the act of dropping on the ball, Aley converting.21-10
Scunthorpe were giving it a go but any territory they made was pegged back by Aley's astute kicking
Aley then kicked a penalty giving South a comfortable lead of 24-10.
The final ten minutes produced some slick South play. Turner capitalised on the visitors slow reaction to penalty by tapping and crossing. 29-10. He was again involved linking with Wes Cope who put Matt Riddington over. Aley adding the extras 36-10. Taiye Olowofela then completed the scoring with a sublime run from his 22 eluding would be tacklers and touching down. Aley converting 43-10.The whistle came soon after to give South a bonus point win.
This takes Rickie Aley's season tally of points to 288.
