Southwark RFC Announce Schools Rugby Program

By Chris Callaway

Southwark RFC develop schools rugby coaching plan to develop rugby talent in inner London.

Southwark Rugby Club are delighted to announce that Tim Marshall will become their first Community Rugby Coach. Tim has extensive schools coaching experience and is currently Hackney RFC Head Coach, he is passionate about developing the game in inner London and keen to bring players through the Southwark youth set-up.

The program will start in September and provide 4 Southwark secondary schools with weekly rugby coaching and regular matches. Chairman Chris Callaway explains "Although the club field 3 men's teams every weekend the majority of players have moved to the area from outside London. To grow the game within Southwark, give the club stability and encourage local talent to take up the sport we need to be pro-active and promote rugby within local schools. We are hugely excited by this initiative and enormously grateful to Big Yellow Self Storage for realising our ambitious plans."
