After arriving late due to bad traffic, Gate were left with little time to warm up and get prepared for this game.
Manager Andy Clarkson bought Seydou Bamba and Joey Mullen into the side that were looking to get back to winning ways after losing their last two games.
Gate went close after just two minutes in the game. Ryan Charnley struck the crossbar from a freekick before Brett Dawson fired over.
Joey Mullen found Dean Ing in the box after 17 minutes but the towering midfielder’s shot was saved.
Mullen then had a chance of his own in a big opportunity for Gate. Ric Seear found Ryan Charnley who in turn found Joey Mullen but the midfielders low shot was saved.
Gate eventually made there dominance play just before half time. Captain Matty Kay picked up a loose ball and played in Brett Dawson who made no mistake to slot the ball past the onrushing keeper.

Brett Dawson came close to doubling his tally just after the second half started but the keeper did well to save well down low.
The homeside came close to leveling the game when they got in behind Gate 3 on 1. Gate did well to recover but the shot was saved easily by Ben Fletcher.
They came forward again soon after as they started to try to keep the ball but Ben Fletcher was equal with a good save.
Gate had the ball in the net for a second time, but the linesman ruled the goal out for offside.
As the game went on the homeside looked to push for an equaliser but couldn’t break Gate down.
Whilst up looking for a last minute equaliser, Gate scored a second on the break. Brett Dawson found Ric Seear on the half way line, the striker took the ball in his stride and rolled the ball into the empty net.
Gate will find out who they face in the next round on Monday afternoon in the First Round Proper.
