REPORT: Hanley Town 2-1 Squires Gate

By

Gate come away with nothing in return to the league despite several great chances...

Gate came away from Hanley Town on Saturday afternoon without the point they deserved in an even game at the Potteries.

Manager Andy Clarkson bought in Jordan O'Mahoney, Brad Jones and Dan Gray back into the side from Sunday's FA Vase win.

The home team took the lead midway through the first half when their centre forward ran at Gate's defence and put his shot past
a diving Ben Fletcher as Gate's defence backed off.
Gate had their chances to equalise with Ric Seear hitting the bar. The home side though doubled their lead just before half time when
they scored from a header from the corner, Gate again starting slowly.

Half time: Hanley Town 2-0 Squires Gate

Whatever was said at half time by Andy Clarkson clearly worked because within 30 seconds of the restart Gate were back in the game.
Dean Ing scoring a superb sublime goal from outside the area.
The goal inspired Gate to push forward and look for an equaliser that Andy Clarkson's depleted squad deserved. Chances for Seear,
Dawson and Brad Jones just couldn't find the net as Gate missed that little bit of good luck in front of goal.

Gate are next in action on Tuesday night when they host Padiham in the Lancashire Cup.

Gate: Fletcher, O'Mahoney, Bamba, Sumner, Gray, Richards, Kay, Ing, Jones, Seear, Dawson. Subs: Squires, Clarkson.
