Three minutes into the game saw the first chance fall to the visitors as Paul Anderson picked up the ball in lots of space before shooting wide. Eleven minutes in Stamford had their first chance of the game which also saw the opening goal as a Bradley Fortnam-Tomlinson cross found an unmarked Chris Salt who headed in. Half an hour in Sam Grouse was played in on goal with a long ball played out of the back, Sam beat the keeper to the ball flicking it past him but a Mansfield defender recovered to clear off the line. Stamford's last chance of the half fell to A Trialist whose header was saved for a corner. The final chance of the half came two minutes before the end as Kenton Ward shot just wide under pressure from Chris Salt.
Three minutes after the break Stamford had their second as Stanley Mugisha closed down a clearance before running onto the loose ball before picking out Sam Grouse who finished composedly at the second attempt. Twenty minutes later and a period of Stamford dominance saw Bradley Fortnam-Tomlinson, Stanley Mugisha and Liam Adams all have attempts at goal. Stamford were rewarded for this spell of dominance as Liam Adams beat two defenders before being brought down with Bradley Fortnam-Tomlinson stepping up and sending the keeper the wrong way from the penalty spot. On the 75th minute Mansfield's Jordan Graham shot across goal and whilst he beat the onrushing Danny Haystead he could not put his shot into the back of the net. The final chance of the game was an Ollie Brown-Hill free-kick but this went narrowly over the bar.
