The match at the Silver X stadium was marred by a strong wind blowing across the pitch which made meant passes failed to reach their intended destination.
There was a first start for Lee Garvie in midfield following his move from Corby Town. This saw Reece Morris drop to the bench. There was also a return for Dan Haystead in goal after missing last week’s win over Brighouse.
The opening fifteen minutes saw little goal mouth action with a couple of shots off target by Piteu Crouz and blocked shot from Bradley Fortnam-Tomlinson.
The first real chance of the game did not arrive until after 30 minutes of play when an effort by Craig Nelthorpe was parried by Dan Haystead but only to George Milner but the Belper forward put his shot over the bar. The Daniels then had an effort from Grant Ryan, but he could not keep his effort down and it went over the bar.
The home side then had another effort, but Jon Challinor was on hand to block the ball. Again, Stamford went up the other end and Fortnam-Tomlinson crossed the ball from the right, but Joe Burgess could not keep his effort down and it went over the bar.
At the start of the second half, Fortnam-Tomlinson had a good effort on goal, but Leigh Overton was able to make the save at the expense of a corner.
Belper then had two chances to open the scoring. First, Craig Nelthorpe hit a long-range effort that Haystead was able to tip over the bar for a corner. The corner was met by Nathan Curtis who acrobatic effort was tipped away by Haystead from close range.
The home side then had chance when George Milner did a sharp turn and shot but again Haystead was equal to it.
With ten minutes remaining, substitute Liam Adams had a great chance but as he was bearing down on goal and about to shoot he appeared to be clipped by a Belper defender, but the referee saw nothing doing.
The ball came out to fellow sub Ollie Brown-Hill and he ran at the home defence and one a free-kick on the edge of the area.
Brown-Hill took the set piece himself, but he could not keep his effort down and it sailed over Overton’s goal.
