A fine unbroken partnership of 89 between Danny Britcliffe and Mike Lang guided Stokeinteignhead to a 8 wicket win vs South Devon which means Stokeinteignhead will play in the Brockman Cup final for the very first time in the clubs long history. Some tight bowling and fielding, Mark Russell pick of the bowlers with fantastic figures of 4 for 12 off 4 overs. The others bowled well, Chris Parish and Chris Saunders the others to pick up a wicket and some good catches taken insured that South Devon did not get away that easily despite a fine knock of 68 from opener Mark Andrews (7 fours, 3 sixes) kept South Devon to 105 which at one point looked to be 20 odd runs short.
Stokeinteignhead lost Chris Prestt early for a duck in the first over, bowled by skipper Shaun Taylor. Paul Russell soon followed, caught at point off the same bowler Taylor for 6. It looked like Stoke were behind the run rate but soon Danny Britcliffe and Mike Lang got into their stride with no alarms except a run out and near stumpings got Stoke over the line with 2 overs to spare.
Stoke will now play either Abbotskerswell or Ippelpen for chance to win the Brockman Cup for the very first time in the clubs history even though a couple of seasons ago, Stoke could not raise a side in the first match v Babbacombe. How times have changed.
