Team North East - 2018 U13 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!!!

Huge congratulations to our Thirsk Hockey girls, part of the North East Hockey Team, who were crowned the U13 National Champions 2018 this weekend in Manchester.

They had to battle hard through three pool matches, the semi-final and then the final in incredibly hot conditions over 3 days at Manchester University. They scored 28 goals for and only conceded 1 which is an incredible achievement considering this was against the rest of the UK.

Results – Pool Matches
North East v Tensworth (North West): 6 – 0
North East v South Wales: 7 – 0
North East v West Panthers (B Team): 8 – 0

Semi-Final: North East v South Saxons: 2 – 0

Final: North East v West Panthers (A Team): 5 – 1

“Don’t aspire to be the best on the team. Aspire to be the best for the team” – a motto the girls lived by this weekend – they are a huge credit to themselves and the club.

Even better news was that 4 Thirsk girls were selected from the 150+ girls that competed over the weekend to represent the UK Lions, as follows: Amelia Pollock, Holly Pears, Poppy Barlow and Yasmin Marshall.
