YYHL U16 BOYS DIV 2 - THIRSK: 2 SHEFFIELD HALLAM : 1
By Mark Crisp
Our second game of the day was against Sheffield Hallam
Our second game of the day was against Sheffield Hallam. We started the game poorly giving the ball away too easily and our movement off the ball was limited. Sheffield Hallam gained confidence and took an early lead. With some choice words from the coach and some of our own players starting to realise that we weren't playing as we can, player movement began to improve and passes began to find players in yellow shirts. Matty Raynor and Sam Kelly really started to influence the game and eventually the ball found Callum Crisp in the D who hit a shot which deflected off the keeper and Tom Crack was on hand to tap in. We continued to press and were awarded a penalty corner with this time Connor Wilkinson receiving the ball to pass to Matty Raynor who calmly slotted into their goal. This really knocked the confidence of Sheffield and we saw the game out to win 2-1, despite a very disappointing first ten minutes.
