Thirsk U12 Girls on Fire!

The U12 girls teams were on fire this weekend in the 5th round of the YYHL – we had quite a few selection problems before the tournament losing a number of girls across the board due to illness and injury. That meant a bit of re-jigging of the teams to make sure all the teams had just enough players. The good news was we still managed to get all 5 teams out – it is also with huge thanks to all the hockey helpers at the club who manage the teams on Sunday, Paul, Helen, Lerae and Sally – without these amazing people the girls would not be able to play.
I am delighted to report that Thirsk A, finished top of the whole league for the 5th consecutive time. The depleted B’s fought hard and managed 4th place in the A League – there was only 1 goal difference between 2nd, 3rd and 4th!

The C Team, depleted again and under the care of Helen, smashed the C League and finished top which means they get promoted to the B League – this is an absolutely fantastic achievement and that means they will be back at Weetwood with the rest of the squad for the final tournament.
The D & E Team, also depleted and playing in the G League, had a fantastic afternoon. The D Team smashed it and finished top so they get promoted to the F League. The E Team just missed out on 2nd place but it is a great effort finishing 3rd.

All in all a great weekend and shows what a great squad we have in this age group. Thanks to all the parents for their support and we are all looking forward to the last round.
