Alverthorpe U11 6-1 Thornes U11

By Mark Parsons

Difficult opener for Under 11s.

Thornes found life in their new league difficult. From the off they were on the back foot but they battled well in all areas.

Alverthorpe scored in the 15th minute, and he'd gone 3-0 up before Half Time. However Thornes did not give up, and they created chances but couldn’t convert.

Thornes came out rejuvenated in the second half, and within 10 minutes they had pulled a goal back. Kassey won the ball and passed up the left wing. Lewis Paulson beat three players, rounded the keeper and knocked the ball into an open net.

Alverthorpe changed up a gear and added a fourth fourth five minutes later, then followed by two more by the home side making the score 6-1 with the last kick of the game.

Elliott made some great saves and there were good displays from new boys Mason and Joseph. However the Thornes Man of The Match went to the captain George for his non stop tackling.

Well done lads we live and learn.
