Guild Catch Up!

By Paul Beasley

Cup progression, but a heavy loss in a last minute friendly!

“Even though the Guild lost, Rugby was still the winner!”

The Guild had been due to play Warley RFC in the cup fixture last Saturday. Unfortunately, Warley RFC were unable to field a team and fulfil the fixture. The RFU have awarded the Club the win and progress through to the next round of the Cup!

A last minute fixture was hastily arranged against city neighbours, Dunlop RFC on Saturday instead, with their 1st XV travelling to Rowley Road for first time in a number of years after having their planned fixture against Harbury cancelled too.

However Dunlop's generiousity in stepping in and fulfilling the fixture so both Clubs had a game was as good as it got for the Guild. The two league gulf in class quickly became apparent, with Dunlop racing ahead in first half following a disappointing display. However the Guild fought back to score three tries in the second half, but were ultimately handed a heavy 69-17 defeat against a very good Midlands 3 West (South) side

Many thanks to Dunlop RFC for the fixture, and good luck with the rest of the season.
