Wasps seal 32-12 victory at Bristol Bears to maintain unbeaten start

Wasps maintain their 100% record in the Premier 15s Development League with a convincing 32-12 victory away at the previously undefeated Bristol Bears.
The visitors sealed the bonus point before half time, making the most of the opportunities that came their way. Stellar tackling from Wasps forced a number of turnovers in midfield which they quickly converted into a 22-7 lead at half-time. Despite the horribly cold and damp conditions, Wasps added two more tries in the second half and held Bristol inside their 22m for long periods.
Makeda Lewis led the charge in the first half. The winger came in with a huge tackle before winning the ball instantly at the breakdown. The turnover gave Wasps quick ball and Anna Glyn Davies made the most of the opportunity as she raced over.
The next score it was Kendall Templeman forcing the turnover with another big hit. The ball finding Izzy Fisher shortly afterwards who broke away to extend the lead.
Wasps worked good field position with strong carrying through the midfield from the third score. Maud Muir managed to carry a number of Bristol defenders over the line for her 5th try in three games. Despite a yellow card for Kasey Allen, Wasps refused to give Bristol any inroads.
The bonus point came after 25 minutes, as Wasps were quickest to pounce on a loose ball. Makeda Lewis capped off an excellent half by using her pace to beat the final Bristol defender. Bristol got themselves on the board just before the end of the half after a long period of pressure inside the Wasps 22m, Serena Settembri crossing the whitewash for the hosts.
With a 22-7 lead at the break Wasps continued to apply pressure, keeping Bristol pinned inside their half for the bulk of the second period. Fantastic skill broke the 2nd half deadlock after 10 minutes. Deirdre Roberts put an excellent bullet pass which found Kendall Templeman who ran an incredible inside line to create a gap and score.
Wasps continued to apply pressure and eventually got over the line for their 6th try of the game. Excellent offloading in the tackle created space out wide for Becca Wye to rush in the corner. Bristol had the final score of the game as a number of penalties and yellow card for Maud Muir, gave the hosts the advantage. The pressure eventually told and Serena Settembri crossed the line for her second score at the final whistle.
The victory means Wasps maintain their perfect start to the season with three wins out of three so far. They have also racked up an impressive 26 tries in the opening three rounds. They will face a tough test as they travel to Saracens next week in the hope of keeping momentum as the season progresses.
