Again too many players unavailable for a variety of reasons. The Manager had to put himself on the bench, such was the shortage of players. We signed a new player in the week, Leon Shattock, and he was straight into the starting 11. So including the manager and the spare goalkeeper we had 3 subs!
Stapenhill started strongly, forcing Clark into 3 early saves. The game flowed from end to end with neither team looking really confident or capable. Will Heath pulling the Bridgford strings in midfield and Hall and Erentz running the defence. The new signing pulled a hamstring early on, but gamely played on such was the plight of the bench.
Disaster struck when a Stapehill first goal was scored following a rare error in defence, and the second goal followed soon after as a cross was met by an unmarked player in the box for a tap in. So it was 2-0 at half time.
Bridgford looked a bit better second half, but our strike force of Kwadu and Hodgson were just not firing on target as chance after chance passed them by. On 70 minutes we replace the injured debutant with our only sub, Dan Hudson. Then with 3 minutes left Stapenhill lobbed the keeper to make it 3. Hodgson received a pass in the box and scored to make it 3-1, and then a bad defensive back pass gave Stapenhill their 4th. Overall a slightly better performance but Stapenhill were worthy of their victory
