U11s Storm Into Cup Final

Westgate entertained Burneside on Friday evening in the U11 Knock - Out Cup Semi - Final. Batting first the home team produced good partnerships throughout their innings: Jack Liptrot & Jack Johnson (18), Lawson Carr & Harry Winder (27), Marcus Palamountain with Charlie Higson & Rayaan Hussain (23), George Abel & Jack Edwards (29) and finally Nathan Allen & Matthew Bradshaw (39) all contributed to the final total of 336.

Burneside always struggled to try and overtake this impressive total. The Westgate catching, bowling and fielding was once again first class with wickets being taken by Charlie (1), Jack Johnson (1), Jack Edwards (1), Lawson (1), Marcus (1), Matthew (1), Jack Liptrot (3), George (3) and Harry (3). Some outstanding catches were taken by Jacks Liptrot & Edwards, Marcus, Matthew, George (2), and skipper and keeper Nathan (2) as the visitors were restricted to a score of 211 and Westgate progressed to the Final winning by 120 runs.

The Final will be held at Sedgwick on Bank Holiday Monday 27 August with a 2 pm start against Netherfield.

The match was fairly umpired - the officials not awarding a penalty in the first 3 minutes to the Home side!!
