Westgate had a comfortable seven-wicket win over fellow title challengers Heysham at Cross Hill Park on Saturday. Heysham won the toss and batted, and after 13 overs the score stood at a sorry 19-7 with Dylan Conroy the main destroyer with figures at one time reading 7 - 4 - 3 - 6 with the 3 runs coming from 2 no balls and 1 wide. A destructive spell of hostile and straight bowling wiping out the visitors batsmen. As he tired, the batting improved with Liam Parkinson (23) and Ashton Ward (18) taking the innings into the 37th over and a more respectable total of 66 all out. Westgate never struggled in their reply with the first wicket putting on 26 before Craig Buchanan departed for 12. The introduction of Steffan Dixon (2 for 12) brought some joy to the visitors but Conroy with 23 and Alex Briggs (13*) saw Westgate to victory and a welcome 15 points with just 3 wickets down.
