Wick’s fixture at home to Kingswood today was a rather one sided affair for the first 45 minutes. Although Kingswood forced a corner in the 1st minute the home side took over and scored five times in the first half without reply. It all started after 9 minutes when the home side had a header cleared off the line and then 2 minutes later they went ahead with a sweeping break down the right and low across into the box from Danny Sheldon swept into the net but Shaun Morris. A minute later Fox dived across goal to push a Danny Sheldon 25 yard free kick away for a corner. On 16 minutes the home side went 2-0 up when Jake Robertson drove the ball past Fox from the edge of the box. Kingswood’s only real chance to score came in the 17th minute from a Adam Eldridge 30 yard free kick that home keeper Tyler Edmonds managed to push up into the air and then collect just before it went over the line. The home side made it 3-0 on 26 minutes with some really good interchanging of passes and Jake Robertson finished it off for his second. Just 2 minutes later another great move gave Allen Williams the chance to make it 4-0. The fifth on 32 minutes was a really good shot from Joe Thomas curling his right foot shot past Fox as he cut in from the left.
The second half was a little more balanced but still the home side had chances to increase their tally but Kingswood’s effort in the second half was vastly improved and they defended well. The home side could well have made it six on 50 minutes as Nathan Croot was dispossessed by Allen Williams on the edge of the Kingswood box but the striker’s finish with a one on one with Fox was poor the ball going well wide of the goal. Adam Eldridge pulled off a great tackle to deny Jake Robertson a clear run on goal on 61 minutes. Then on 68 minutes Allen Williams had another good chance but somehow the Kingswood defence got the ball clear. A cross from Mike Hardiman found Joe Thomas on the far post and his header was heading into the goal until Lewis Toop intervened and headed off the line. Kingswood’s only effort on goal in the second half fell to Lewis Toop but his shot did not trouble Tyler Edmonds.
